About Me - The Vale Artist
WHERE IT ALL STARTED
Hey there! I’m Sophie, the face behind the Vale Artist.
I have always been a lover of art. I use to love painting, drawing, sketching and even making things when I was younger. I use to spend time with my nan who also use to paint using watercolours. After working within the educational sector for several years, I decided to reignite this passion and begin painting again.
During the lockdowns of 2020 my sister began a small shop outside the house selling anything from jams and marmalades to shortbread and cookies. This is where I first started to paint, print and sell my cards. I even got my first commission from someone wanting me to paint some rabbits for them!
I use a range of resources when creating pieces of artwork and I love using them all. This includes acrylics, watercolour paint and pencils, brush pens and even an Ipad! There is no end when it comes to creating and that is why I love it. There is always something new I can learn and use.
This is when I thought to myself, why don’t I make this more of a career than a hobby? So I began my Instagram and created my website … and here we are!
